John och Paul - ja, till och med Beatles förste trummis Pete Best har fått sina barndomshem skyddade. Beskedet att huset där Ringo Starr föddes hotas av rivning väcker blandade känslor i Liverpool.
Förra torsdagen firades Beatlesdagen i bandets hemstad. Jubiléet, att det är 44 år sedan stadens stoltheter återvände från den framgångsrika turnén i USA, kan tyckas aningen krystat, men eftersom Liverpool är kulturhuvudstad 2008 är vilken orsak som helt till att hylla kvartetten god nog.

John Lennons handskrivna textrader till låten "Give Peace a Chance" har sålts på en auktion i London för nästan fem miljoner kronor. Texten plitades ned under Lennons och Yoko Onos kända Vietnam-protest från en
säng på Queen Eizabeth Hotel i Montreal 1969.

Efter att låten spelats in i hotellrummet med omkring 50 personer på kör, däribland sångerskan Petula Clark och beatpoeten Allen Ginsberg, gav Lennon textbladet till författaren Gail Renard. Hon hade hälsat på och lärt känna paret vid flera tillfällen under den veckolånga sängsejouren.

På auktionen i London såldes även den handmålade trumman från omslaget till Beatles-skivan "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" för 6,5 miljoner kronor.

En tidigare okänd BBC-intervju med the Beatles har hittats i London och kan nu avlyssnas på BBC:s hemsida.

Intervjun som gjordes våren 1964 är en av de äldsta som bevarats med gruppen som personifierar 60-talsmusiken.

I intervjun talar bl.a. John Lennon och Paul McCartney om sitt gemensamma låtskrivande, och gruppen berättar om filmen A Hard Day´s Night.

Beatles music may soon be strumming a new tune via air guitar video games, according to a report in the Financial Times.

Apple Corps and EMI, which respectively represent The Beatles' business interests and ownership of its master recordings, have reportedly been in discussions with video game publishers Activision and MTV Games.

Olivia, 59, has been creating a special garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in her late husband's memory.
Harrison, who died almost six-and-a-half years ago, was a regular at the show, and would return home every year with a list of plants he wanted to buy.
His family nicknamed him Capability George after the 18th Century English landscape designer Capability Brown.
In an interview, Olivia says of the garden at the home they shared in Oxfordshire: "Every time I go out there, I always think he'll just pop out from behind a shrub, like he used to."
She added: "Will I see George again? I take heart from something Michael Palin once said, which is that the idea of seeing George again, on the other side, makes the idea of death a whole lot more interesting."

Dhani Harrison is apparently set to follow in his father George Harrison's footsteps with his band thenewo2.
The only son of the late Beatles guitarist formed the band with drummer Oliver Hecks and is hoping to wow industry bosses when he tours the States this year, reports the Daily Express.
The 29-year has already released new tracks on the internet and apparently wants to perform a series of live shows in the US.
A source told the paper: "Dhani isn't a big attention seeker but it's understood he hopes to go on the road in the autumn."
"Dhani will be keen to keep things low key and they'll be playing small venues, but there's bound to be a lot of interest."
